Garmin Forerunner 265: a step up for runners who like training data
The Forerunner 265 adds a rich training toolkit to Garmin's bright AMOLED running-watch line. Compared with basic GPS trackers, its attraction is the combination of training readiness, advanced running metrics, Garmin Coach-style guidance, multi-band positioning and music support. The manufacturer describes the watch as a performance running smartwatch built around race preparation and recovery insights.
Key specifications (standard 265)
- Display: 1.3-inch colour AMOLED (416 × 416 pixels)
- Case: approximately 46.1 × 46.1 × 12.9 mm; weight: 47 g
- Battery: up to 13 days in smartwatch mode, or 20 hours in GPS-only mode without music, per Garmin; actual runtime varies
- Location: multi-band GPS and SatIQ automatic satellite-mode management
- Running tools: training readiness, daily suggested workouts, race widget, wrist-based running dynamics and running power, PacePro, recovery and training-load metrics
- Extras: music support, multisport profiles, 5 ATM water rating
Who should consider it
- Runners following structured 10K, half-marathon or marathon plans
- Athletes wanting deeper training metrics than an entry-level GPS watch
- People training in built-up areas where multi-band GPS may be useful
Important comparisons
The already-listed Forerunner 165 is a compelling simpler model. The 265 adds more advanced performance and satellite tools, but not everyone needs those extras. The Forerunner 265S has a smaller 41.7 mm case and differing weight and battery figures: it is a size/model variant with substantive specifications, not just a colour option.
Buying and colour notes
ARC lists the Forerunner 265 model, not each watch colour. The manufacturer page linked below illustrates Aqua (part number 010-02810-52); other official colours should be options within the model, not duplicate posts.
Retailer exception: Planet Sports Asia did not yield a verified Forerunner 265 product page in this search. The current buying link is Garmin Indonesia's official product page, not a Planet Sports offer and not a commission-tracked ARC affiliate link: Garmin Indonesia Forerunner 265.
Editorial note
All specifications and feature claims are sourced from Garmin; ARC has not independently tested this product. Training readiness and wrist heart-rate metrics are estimates, not medical advice.
