Consider this model for music or spoken audio during training when you prefer an open-ear design. It fills a different need from a GPS watch: it plays audio and handles calls rather than recording a running route on its own.
The trade-off is that surrounding sound remains present. If you want to block a noisy environment, the open-ear format works against that goal. It also does not guarantee that you will notice every vehicle or warning sound. Volume and attention still matter, and race organisers may have their own headphone restrictions.
