Event Detail
The 2026 Chongqing Rongchang Marathon brings a full marathon and half marathon to Rongchang District in western Chongqing on Sunday 8 November 2026. The 7:30 am start at Rongchang People's Square opens a road-running event designed around the district's relatively gentle terrain and waterside scenery. Organisers are planning for 10,000 runners: 4,000 in the full marathon and 6,000 in the half marathon.
Course and atmosphere
The organisers promote the event's comparatively flat running surfaces and its scenery along the Laixi River. The published race information describes riverside green corridors, bamboo scenery and urban landmarks, including the Xiabu (ramie-fabric) cultural area and Wanling Ancient Town. Rongchang is also known for its pottery heritage and local food traditions, which the district government has included in its promotion of the race. The race is a chance to combine a road-running challenge with a visit to a less internationally familiar part of the Chongqing municipality.
A flatter advertised profile may appeal to runners aiming for a personal best, but it is no guarantee of a fast finish. Participants should assess the final course map, their preparation and race-day conditions before choosing a goal pace. The organiser's race rules should be consulted for the precise route, aid stations, cut-off times and any last-minute changes.
Entry and race-day planning
The published competition programme contains two road-running distances, both starting at 7:30 am local China Standard Time (UTC+8). Registration was offered on a first-come, first-served basis rather than through a ballot, with an additional entry window in late August. Online entries are currently closed; any reopening should be confirmed directly with the registration platform.
Runners travelling to Rongchang should allow extra time to reach the square before the start, particularly if city-centre roads are restricted. Consult the organiser's latest instructions for bib collection, approved identification, the exact meeting point and transport arrangements. The race organisers also announced a finisher backpack for runners who complete either the marathon or half marathon; other race-pack contents should be checked against official participant guidance.
This listing draws on the Rongchang District Government's current-edition announcement and the race's official registration partner.
