2026 Tumushuke Marathon: run the Tangwang City oasis
The 2026 Tumushuke Marathon (2026图木舒克马拉松) takes place on Sunday 1 November 2026, starting at 10:00 am China Standard Time at the Tangwang City Millennium Reclamation Culture Experience Centre, within the Yong'an Lake scenic area of Tumxuk (also written Tumushuke), Xinjiang, China. This is a distinctive road-racing opportunity in China's far west, combining distance running with the landscapes and historical setting of a Silk Road oasis.
Distances and entry
The organiser's current-edition registration partner confirms two races: a 42.195 km full marathon and a 21.0975 km half marathon. The total field is capped at 3,000 runners, with 1,000 full-marathon places and 2,000 half-marathon places. Both events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 am; no separate wave times have been announced on the linked registration page.
The published entry fees are CNY 120 for the marathon and CNY 100 for the half marathon. According to the registration terms, these entry channels are currently restricted to Chinese nationals, including participants from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. International visitors should not assume they are eligible to enter.
Registration and ballot
The organiser's 22 October update states that half-marathon places are full. A limited additional full-marathon application window runs until 25 October 2026 at 17:00 China Standard Time, subject to available places. The update moves ballot-number/result enquiries to 26 October at 17:00. Check the official entry channel for your application status and current availability; earlier closing and ballot dates have been superseded.
The route and travel considerations
The event is promoted around the landscape of Yong'an Lake wetlands, desert roads, golden poplar groves and the historic Tangwang City area. These are the main attractions of a race in this oasis setting. Detailed turn-by-turn routes, cut-off times, race-pack collection arrangements and aid-station locations were not confirmed on the current public registration page, so runners should await instructions from the organising committee.
Tumxuk is in a remote part of Xinjiang. Allow time to confirm travel connections, entry eligibility, accommodation and the race-day assembly point. The listed 10:00 am start follows the event's official China Standard Time (UTC+8). The event's Chinese name is useful when checking local announcements.
