Event Detail
The Chengmai Half Marathon takes runners through the changing coastal landscape of northern Hainan, combining streets of Laocheng Science and Technology New City with bridges, coconut-lined views and the island’s coastal tourism road. The 2026 edition is a Chinese Athletics Association A-class road race with a field limit of 6,000, and its sole competitive distance is the half marathon.
The route starts and finishes outside the Hainan Laocheng Science and Technology New City Management Committee. From South First Ring Road it follows Xinlong Road across Yingbin Seaside Bay Bridge, reaches West Yongqing Avenue and turns onto the Hainan Island Coastal Tourism Highway. After a turnaround on that scenic road, runners return via West Yongqing Avenue, another turnaround on Luneng Avenue, the same bridge and the streets of Laocheng. The organiser cautions that final route measurements and arrangements are subject to official confirmation.
Race-day timetable: assembly and bib checks run from 06:00 to 07:20, before a single 07:30 start (China Standard Time). Entrants are grouped into starting pens A and B. The half marathon has a three-hour overall limit, with intermediate course closures at 5K (08:25), 10K (09:00), 15K (09:40) and 20K (10:20). Allow for traffic controls and reach the start before the check-in cutoff. The event offers chip timing, drinking stations at 5K, 10K, 15K and 20K, additional water at 7.5K, 12.5K and 17.5K, food at 12.5K and 17.5K, and medical support around the course.
Eligibility and collection: runners must satisfy the 18-and-over condition specified in the Chinese regulations and upload certificates for two races of at least 10 kilometres within the 24 months preceding the entry deadline. Organisers recommend a recent medical examination. Bibs, timing chips and shirts are collected in person during the two days before the race; precise collection hours and venue are to be announced. Bring original identity documents and the signed participation declaration. Runners aged 65 or older have an additional co-signature requirement. Personal bag deposit is provided from 06:00 to 07:15, with collection by 11:30.
The organising committee also links its Chengmai and Dongfang half marathons: runners entering both receive a specially designed backpack under the announced promotion. Race places are allocated first come, first served, subject to eligibility and capacity. Consult the organiser’s latest Chinese-language notices for any changes to transport, pickup and race-day logistics.
