Event Detail

Hengdian Marathon brings a distinctive film-set backdrop to road racing in Zhejiang province. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday 15 November, starting at 7:30 am China Standard Time on North Ring Road by Ming-Qing Palace Garden in Hengdian, part of Dongyang city near Jinhua. The organisers expect 22,000 runners, comprising 5,000 marathon participants and 17,000 half-marathon participants.

Running through the film studios

The race is centred on Hengdian World Studios, the expansive complex used for Chinese historical films and television dramas. Organiser race information describes a route linking famous studio locations and cultural sets, including Ming-Qing Palace Garden, Qin Palace, Along the River During the Qingming Festival, Huaxia Cultural Park and the New Yuanming Palace areas. Its appeal is an unusual combination of conventional road-race competition and elaborate recreated palace and historical streetscapes. Exact participant access to individual attraction areas is governed by the final course map and race-day arrangements.

Both courses begin near Ming-Qing Palace Garden. The full marathon finishes near the Hengdian Film Industry Experimental Zone on Huaxia Avenue, so full-distance runners should not assume that luggage collection and the finish are at the start. Follow the event's final transport, baggage and road-closure instructions.

Timing, support and rules

The published race rules specify a three-hour half-marathon limit and a six-hour marathon limit, with intermediate route closures. The half-marathon course closes at 10:30 am and the full course at 1:30 pm. Drinks are provided at approximately five-kilometre intervals with additional water points between them. The rules also describe course medical support and a controlled baggage-drop service. Baggage collection is due by noon for half-marathon runners and 3 pm for marathon runners.

Participants must follow the organiser's age, qualifying-performance and health requirements, wear the correct race bib and timing equipment, and comply with official course instructions. The race regulations specify a minimum age of 20 for the marathon and 18 for the half marathon, with an upper age limit of 69 in both. Check the official participant guide for collection details and race-week changes.

Entry status: registration opened in July, but the current registration platform lists the 2026 event as closed. Do not assume late entries or transfers are available. Official updates are distributed through the Hengdian Marathon WeChat channel (hmarathon) and registration services.

Race Pack Information

Organiser's 2026 regulations say timing chips are issued with bibs at packet collection. A verified race-pack collection date, opening hours and venue have not yet been announced in the checked materials. Refer to the final participant guide.
