The North Face 100 Ultra Trail Challenge 2027

The North Face 100 Ultra Trail Challenge returns to Hong Kong from 19 to 21 March 2027, with all five races starting and finishing at Lam Tsuen Wishing Square in Tai Po. The programme is split into a Summit Level for the 55K, 100K solo and 100K team relay, and an Adventure Level for the 27K and 14K. The 27K is new for 2027 and is designed as a step up for runners with some trail experience.

The 100K is the headline ultra. Its published course covers about 100.4 km with roughly 5,401 metres of climbing and a 27-hour limit, linking trails and checkpoints around Fanling, Hok Tau, Pat Sin Leng, Lai Chi Wo, Cloudy Hill, Tai Mo Shan and Tai To Yan before returning to Lam Tsuen. The 55K has a 17-hour limit, the 27K a 6.5-hour limit and the 14K a five-hour limit. Starts are spread across the weekend: 27K at 11:00 on Friday, 100K solo and relay at 22:00 on Friday, 55K at 08:00 on Saturday and 14K at 09:00 on Sunday.

Entries opened on a first-come, first-served basis on 10 August 2026 and remain subject to each race quota. The official site lists 500 places for the 27K, 500 for the 100K solo, 100 four-person relay teams, 1,100 for the 55K and 1,200 for the 14K. The 27K is already shown as sold out. Runners may enter more than one category, but duplicate applications for the same race are not permitted.

The event uses marked trail routes with mandatory checkpoint and aid-station passage. Outside support is permitted only at designated checkpoints, and the longer races require compulsory safety equipment including suitable lighting and hydration capacity. Night-time runners must also wear front and rear flashing lights during the specified dark-hours window.
