Bharat Midnight Marathon @ Chennai 2026

Bharat Midnight Marathon @ Chennai 2026 is the inaugural Chennai edition of the overnight road-running and community fundraising event developed by Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC). The Bengaluru race began in 2007 and has since expanded under the Bharat Midnight Marathon name. This first Chennai edition is scheduled for Saturday 10 October 2026 at Gate 6, Island Grounds, Chennai, with local Rotary International District 3234 managing the event under RBITC's ownership. The Chennai event is a new city round, not the separate Bengaluru edition scheduled for December.

The programme mixes family-friendly participation with timed road races. The organiser lists a non-timed 3K at 17:30, non-timed 5K at 18:30, timed 5K at 18:40, 10K at 20:30, half marathon at 23:00 and full marathon at 23:25, all in India Standard Time. Longer-distance runners continue into the early hours of Sunday. The official race page also describes the marathon as an eight-loop, 42.195 km effort. Detailed current Chennai route maps and road-closure arrangements should be checked with the organiser rather than relying on maps from the Bengaluru race.

Entry and eligibility

Registration is now closed under the published timetable: timed-race entries closed 30 September 2026, while the non-timed 3K and 5K closed 5 October. The advertised fees include 18% GST. Entrants may register for only one category and bib transfers are not permitted. Minimum ages are 8 for the 3K, 12 for either 5K, 14 for the 10K and 18 for the half and full marathons.

Race-day services and collection

The organiser schedules bib and timing-chip collection for 8–9 October, 10:00–18:00 IST, with collection requiring registration confirmation and government photo identification. The dedicated expo page still marks its venue TBD, so registered runners should check direct organiser communications. No race-day registration is offered. Timed-race finishers are promised medals and downloadable certificates, while non-timed participants receive physical participation certificates rather than timed results.

The organiser describes hydration points at roughly 1.2 km intervals, medical tents, ambulances, toilets, a baggage counter near the start/finish and a food zone. It also advertises cash awards for leading timed-race finishers, subject to eligibility and verification. Proceeds support Rotary social projects including education, healthcare, welfare and child and women's safety initiatives.

Important: Some lines in the Chennai FAQ appear copied from the Bengaluru edition and incorrectly refer to December dates or inconsistent long-race cut-offs. The 10 October Chennai date and race start schedule are stated separately, but runners should confirm final cut-offs, expo location and course arrangements directly with the organiser.
