Event Detail

The 9th SRT Ultra on 12 December 2026 follows historic fort-country trails outside Pune, Maharashtra. Organised by the Western Ghats Running Foundation (WGRF), this is a point-to-point mountain-running challenge through the Sahyadri landscape associated with Sinhagad, Rajgad, Torna and Lingana. Routes combine forest tracks, exposed ridgelines, loose rock, roots and steep descents. The organiser estimates that around 70% of the course is technical terrain, making preparation for climbing and careful downhill movement essential.

Courses and cut-offs

Four courses are offered: 11 km Sinhagad Half VK, 25 km Sinhagad to Rajgad, 53 km Sinhagad–Rajgad–Torna, and 100 km Sinhagad–Rajgad–Torna–Lingana. Published climb figures are approximately 700 m, 1,100 m, 2,400 m and 3,870 m respectively. The races start from Golewadi Square near the Sinhagad fort base at 6:15 am (11K), 6:10 am (25K), 6:05 am (53K) and 6:00 am (100K), Indian Standard Time. Their overall limits are 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours. Longer courses have additional intermediate checkpoint cut-offs, so participants should examine the current route profiles and GPX files rather than plan only around the finish deadline.

Support and technical preparation

WGRF describes SRT Ultra as semi-supported. Marked aid stations provide water, electrolytes, snacks, fruit and basic first aid; runners are instructed to carry at least one litre of water and food between stations. The event's mandatory-gear guidance includes trail shoes, a charged phone, a windproof jacket and a headlamp. Technical trail sections include narrow ridges where the organiser prohibits overtaking, and the marked-route and environmental rules are strictly enforced. Entrants should review the medical and race-experience conditions. The 25K requires a previous half-marathon finish; the 53K and 100K require a qualifying full marathon or ultra, with other recognised WGRF results considered.

Getting there and after the finish

The start is reached via Sinhagad Ghat Road, with travel guidance from Pune via Atkarwadi. WGRF asks runners to reach Golewadi before 5:00 am to allow time for parking, bag drop and the pre-start process. The races have different finishing villages. An organiser-provided shuttle returns 25K, 53K and 100K participants to the start, but not 11K entrants. Carry identification and registration proof for bib collection; check the official event instructions for final reporting, briefing and route updates.

Successful 25K, 53K and 100K finishers are advertised as eligible for the event's corresponding ITRA and UTMB Index recognition, subject to the organiser's current rules.
