Event Detail

Tokyo 30K Winter 2027 is a dedicated 30 km road-running challenge held on Japan's National Foundation Day public holiday, Thursday 11 February. Rather than a conventional podium-focused competition, it is designed to help runners rehearse the sustained pacing, nutrition and concentration needed for a spring marathon. The organiser, R-bies Sports Foundation, caps entry at 1,500 participants.

Course and pacing

The course starts and finishes at Ojima Komatsugawa Park's Freedom Square in eastern Tokyo. Runners complete six laps of an approximately 5 km park circuit, with an overall four-hour time limit. The organiser advises participants to count their own laps. Most of the course is reserved for the event, but walkers may still be present around the start/finish and some narrower sections. Pass other runners considerately and follow marshal instructions.

Pacing groups aim at equivalent full-marathon finish times of 2:50 and then 3:00 through 5:00 at 15-minute intervals. Wave departures are organised by pacing group. The race is aimed at adults aged 18 or older who can complete 30 km within four hours; high-school students are not eligible.

Race-day arrangements

The venue opens at 7:00 am, with the paced race beginning at 9:00 am and the course closing at 1:00 pm. Aid includes water, sports drink and Amino Vital energy jelly. A complimentary hot drink is planned before the race. A baggage area and changing space will be available, but valuables should remain with the runner. Participants receive an online finisher certificate, with no placing-based awards.

Standard-entry runners are expected to receive their bibs by post in late January and do not need to check in on race morning. Later entrants collect their bibs on site. Optional long-sleeved event shirts and neck warmers cost an additional JPY 1,000 each; these are not included in the basic fee. Standard entries run from 22 October to 19 December 2026; subsequent entry periods depend on remaining places. The organiser also offers selected discounts for Koto City residents and eligible Runners magazine subscribers.

Getting there

The park is approximately an eight-minute walk from Higashi-ojima Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. Public transport is recommended because parking is limited. Runners should check the official organiser instructions and confirm any last-minute operational changes before travelling.

Race Pack Information

Standard-entry runners will receive their bibs by post in late January 2027 and do not need to collect their race packs on race morning. Runners entering in later entry periods should collect their bibs on site. Exact on-site collection arrangements for later entrants should be confirmed in the organiser's final instructions.
