KL New Year Run 2027

KL New Year Run 2027 opens the year with a central-city road event at Dataran Merdeka, one of Kuala Lumpur's best-known civic landmarks. The programme combines a competitive 10K with a 5K fun run and a family 5K option, giving experienced runners, casual participants and families a New Year's Day race in the heart of the capital.

The organiser lists the event window as 6:00 am to 9:30 am MYT. The 10K includes Malaysian Open and Veteran divisions plus separate international Open categories, while the 5K has individual Malaysian categories and a family entry for two adults and two children. Current rules require runners to wear their assigned bib throughout the race and allow only a five-minute grace period after the relevant race begins. Road closure is scheduled to be lifted three hours after the first flag-off, after which remaining participants must continue on the footpath.

Registration opened on 23 September 2026 and is scheduled to close on 1 December, or earlier if capacity is reached. Race-pack collection details have not yet been announced. Participants will need their confirmation slip or identification for collection, and authorised proxy collection is permitted. The organiser also states that race packs will not be issued after the designated collection period.
