Kailas Penang Skyrace 2027

Kailas Penang Skyrace 2027 returns for its fourth consecutive edition at Youth Park in George Town, Penang. The organiser expects around 2,000 runners, with 500 places allocated to each of the four distances. The 2027 event is also an Asia Trail Master Championship Series point race for the third consecutive year, giving it significance within the regional trail-running calendar.

The programme ranges from an accessible 5K Fun Sky to the 50K Sky Ultraks. Published course information describes the 5K as approximately 80% trail with about 526 metres of positive elevation gain, the 10K as about 85% trail with roughly 945 metres of climbing, the 30K as about 90% trail with around 2,157 metres of climbing, and the 50K as about 85% trail with approximately 2,773 metres of climbing. The courses use Penang's forested hill terrain around George Town, close to the UNESCO World Heritage city.

The longer races take place on Saturday 8 May. The 50K starts at 03:00 and has a 16-hour cut-off, while the 30K starts at 06:30 with a 10-hour cut-off. On Sunday 9 May, the 10K starts at 07:00 and the 5K at 08:00, with both courses closing at 11:00. The start and finish for every distance are at Youth Park.

Final route maps, course profiles and aid-station timelines are scheduled to be released after the organiser's final course inspection on 31 March 2027. Participants should also review the official mandatory-equipment requirements for their chosen distance before race weekend.

Race-entry pack collection is based at Youth Park. All categories can collect on Friday 7 May from 10:00 to 18:00, while 5K and 10K runners have an additional collection window on Saturday 8 May from 12:00 to 18:00. A race briefing and meet-and-greet session are also scheduled on the Friday afternoon.
