Penang Forest Run 2026 - Powered by Decathlon brings runners into the hills of Bukit Mertajam Forest Park in Penang on Saturday 14 November 2026. Organised by Comrades All Star Solutions with Decathlon and the Penang Forestry Department, the event offers jungle trail running, steep climbs, muddy tracks and river crossings across 5K, 10K and 15K.

Race distances and times

All times are Malaysia Time (MYT, UTC+8): 15K runners report by 05:50 and start at 06:00, 10K report by 06:50 and start at 07:00, while the 5K fun run reports by 07:45 and starts at 08:00. The provisional out-and-back courses advertise approximately 1,351 m climbing over 15K, 741 m over 10K and 351 m over 5K. The 15K timetable inconsistently describes an eight-hour limit yet shows a 13:00 cut-off, seven hours after the 06:00 start. Confirm the final limit with the organiser before racing. The published 10K cut-off is 13:00 and the 5K cut-off 12:00. Routes and checkpoints are subject to change.

Entry fees and registration

Published fees are MYR 165 for 15K, MYR 135 for 10K and MYR 95 for 5K. An additional MYR 5 forestry permit and 8% data-administration charge apply; check the actual checkout total. Howei lists 31 October 2026 as registration closing date while another booking listing has shown an earlier deadline. Current availability and binding closing time must be verified directly with the organiser. The 10K and 15K are generally restricted to adult runners aged 18 or older, while the 5K fun run admits ages 10 and over subject to guardian consent for minors. Entry fees are normally non-refundable; bib-name corrections at race-pack collection attract MYR 65 under the organiser rules.

Mandatory equipment and safety

10K and 15K runners must carry a hydration container of at least 1 litre, whistle, two emergency blankets, headlamp with spare batteries or power bank, mobile phone, emergency food or gels, collapsible cup and bowl. The 5K requires at least 250 ml of carried hydration. Mandatory kit is checked on course and after the race; missing items can result in time penalties or disqualification. The event follows a bring-your-own bottle/cup policy, with no disposable cups at aid stations. Provisional water-station counts are one for 5K, two for 10K and three for 15K. Runners must stay on marked trails, avoid outside pacers and inform marshals if retiring. Toilets are reportedly available at the start only.

Race-pack collection

Howei advertises Friday 13 November 2026, 11:00-18:00 MYT at Decathlon Bukit Mertajam, AEON Mall. Bring booking confirmation and original identification. No group or proxy collection, and no postage service. The official organiser poster says 10:00-19:00 MYT on 13 November, which conflicts with Howei's written 11:00-18:00 timetable. Reconfirm the correct pickup window with the organiser before travelling.

Race benefits and awards

Entry includes an event shirt, race bib, finisher medal, post-race refreshments, electronic certificate and lucky-draw eligibility. The 10K and 15K have electronic timing and trophies for the top five finishers in published men’s and women’s open and veteran categories. The 5K is untimed and has no competitive trophies. Organisers expect results within five working days.
