Event Detail
The 2026 Hsinchu City Marathon returns on Sunday, 6 December for its ninth edition. Hsinchu City Government says the event has grown from about 8,000 runners at its first edition to more than 13,700 participants in 2025. The current programme provides 13,500 places across the marathon, half marathon, 9K health run and 4K parent-child and leisure race. The event is listed by AIMS, and the city says the marathon and half-marathon routes retain international course certification.
The marathon starts at 05:50 with a six-hour limit, followed by the half marathon at 06:10 with a four-hour limit, the 9K at 06:30 with a two-hour limit and the 4K at 07:00 with a 75-minute limit. The marathon field is capped at 1,500 runners, while the other three distances each have 4,000 places.
The full course links central Hsinchu with Hsinchu Park, the Touqian River bikeway, Nanliao Fishing Port, the International Kite Field and the 17 km coastline. The half-marathon route focuses more heavily on the city and passes landmarks including Hsinchu City Hall, Chenghuang Temple, the zoo and the athletics stadium.
Published course control points include 5 km and 10 km checks at 08:00 and a 26 km check at 10:30, with the finish closing at noon. Free pre-registered shuttle loops are planned around the venue. Race materials are mailed to participants approximately three weeks before race day and there is no race-day collection. General registration closed on 30 August 2026, so runners should use the official site for final race-week transport, weather and operational notices.
