Event Detail

Bangkok Midnight Marathon returns on Sunday, 20 December 2026 as one of the Thai capital's distinctive night-running events. AIMS lists the race as a member event and confirms the 2026 date. Despite the long-established event name, the currently announced 2026 programme consists of a 21.1K half marathon and a 10K rather than a full 42.195K marathon.

Current-edition organiser information places the start on Sanam Chai Road in Bangkok's historic Phra Nakhon district, beside the Grand Palace precinct, with the finish at Sao Ching Cha, the Giant Swing. The setting puts the event in the heart of Rattanakosin, an area known for major heritage landmarks and a very different atmosphere from Bangkok's daytime road races.

The half marathon is scheduled to start at 03:00 ICT and has a 3 hour 30 minute cut-off. The 10K follows at 04:00 with a two-hour cut-off. This means runners need to plan for a genuinely overnight event, arriving well before normal morning transport patterns. Sanam Chai MRT station is close to the start area, but participants should check race-week transport hours because Bangkok's MRT does not normally operate through the night.

The race has established significant scale. Reporting on the 2025 edition said more than 11,000 runners from around 30 countries took part, supporting its profile as an international sport-tourism event in central Bangkok. AIMS identifies Boonperm Intanapasat as the event contact and lists a RUNRIO email address and Bangkok office for the race.

As of late September 2026, the organiser has announced the race date, distances, start and finish areas, flag-off times and cut-offs, but detailed registration fees, registration deadline, race-pack collection arrangements, runner entitlements and the final 2026 course guide have not yet been published clearly enough to record safely. Runners should therefore check the official Bangkok Midnight Marathon channel for those updates before making race-week plans.
