Event Detail
Khon Kaen International Marathon returns for its 22nd edition on 9-10 January 2027, centred on Khon Kaen University in north-eastern Thailand. The organiser presents the event as an international-standard road race and the weekend format combines community running on Saturday with the principal long-distance races on Sunday.
Saturday's programme begins at 06:50 with the competitive health run, followed by the junior race at 07:00 and the non-competitive health run at 07:10. The main Sunday races start and finish on Kalapaphruek Road in front of the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall. The marathon starts at 03:00 with a seven-hour course limit, the half marathon at 04:00 with a 3 hour 30 minute limit, and the 11.55 km Mini Marathon at 04:45 with a two-hour limit. Runners are assigned to start groups using submitted performance information and the event uses electronic chip timing. Overall results are determined by gun time, while age-group results use chip time.
The published competition rules require runners to stay on the marked route, pass the designated checkpoints and follow directions from technical, medical and safety officials. Assistance is restricted to official aid, first-aid and other designated support areas. Participants arriving more than 15 minutes after their scheduled start can be refused entry to the course.
Race packs for marathon, half marathon and Mini Marathon runners are scheduled for collection at the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall on 8-9 January from 10:00 to 19:00. The shorter Saturday categories collect on 8 January only. Authorised collection for another runner is permitted with the required documents, but there is no race-day race-pack collection. Registration is handled through the official online system and the Khon Kaen University sports office, subject to the organiser's schedule and available capacity.
The official programme also includes open and age-group awards, separate recognition for Thai athletes, and Royal trophies for the leading marathon and half marathon finishers.

Prizes
Marathon overall: THB 50,000 / 30,000 / 20,000 for 1st-3rd, men and women. Half marathon overall: THB 25,000 / 20,000 / 15,000. Age-group cash awards and additional Thai-athlete awards are also published. Royal trophies are awarded to the leading marathon and half marathon finishers.
