Light for early starts and dark trails
The current Petzl ACTIK CORE adds a rechargeable option to the headlamp range. Petzl Japan identifies this version as E065AB, rated at 625 lumens, weighing 88g, with white and red lighting. It comes with a CORE rechargeable battery and also accepts three AAA batteries through Petzl's HYBRID CONCEPT design.
The Japanese listing specifies USB-C charging for the included battery, with the charging cable not supplied. Earlier ACTIK CORE generations can differ in output and charging connection, so the model reference matters.
Read the mode table, not just the headline
Petzl's published CORE-battery table rates maximum mode at 625 lumens with a two-hour runtime, and standard mode at 100 lumens with seven hours. These are manufacturer test figures, not a promise of unchanged brightness throughout the entire runtime.
The same lamp has a lower maximum output of 450 lumens with AAA batteries in Petzl's table. Do not assume the two power sources provide identical performance. Plan around the mode you will use and test the lamp before a long outing.
Who should consider it?
Consider this model for early training, camping around events or trail outings where a compact rechargeable light suits your needs. Compare beam shape, headband comfort and battery planning with a running-specific alternative. More headline lumens alone do not establish the best light for every pace or terrain.
Try the lamp while jogging. Adjust the strap and tilt so the beam illuminates the route without excessive movement. Practise the controls, lock function and battery change before using it at an event.
Wet-weather and race-kit checks
Petzl rates the lamp IPX4. Treat this as its stated water-resistance class, not a claim that the lamp can be submerged. Follow the manufacturer's handling and drying instructions.
For night races, check the organiser's light and spare-power requirements against your setup. The Japanese page links the technical notice, which is the reference for care and operating details.
