Event Detail

The 2026 Xianglushan Marathon in Kaili, Guizhou, is the season finale of the Colorful Guizhou Marathon Super League. Scheduled for Sunday 8 November 2026 at 8:30 am China Standard Time, this major provincial road-running event brings a planned 10,000 runners to the culturally distinctive Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. It combines a full marathon, capped at 4,000 places, with a half marathon, capped at 6,000.

Why this race matters

The final brings together performances from Guizhou's nine-round league structure: four preceding full marathons, four half marathons and this concluding event. Under the published league points system, the leading 300 women and 300 men from qualifying rounds receive direct entry to the final. As well as individual marathon and half-marathon placings, the competition offers a special Guizhou Super Marathon Star recognition scheme linked to races completed. Certain league achievements can provide direct entry opportunities to designated 2027 provincial events. These are competition arrangements, not a claim that every entrant qualifies for an award.

Course and atmosphere

Both the start and finish are at Xianglushan South Gate in Kaili. The road course follows the Xianglushan area and Binjiang Avenue urban ecological corridor, taking in the river landscape, hills and the region's Miao and Dong cultural setting. Do not mistake this for an entirely flat personal-best course. Organiser briefings describe rolling sections and a particularly demanding extended ascent known as Sickle Bend. The official timetable and course instructions should take priority over informal route descriptions.

The race coincides with Miao New Year celebrations. Announced cultural elements include Miao and Dong singing, traditional dance performances and local cuisine in the finish area. The event medal design incorporates motifs inspired by Miao silverwork and Dong embroidery.

Entry and race-week planning

Registration has closed. Applications ran from 25 September at 12:00 until 25 October 2026 at 18:00 China Standard Time (UTC+8), subject to capacity. Advertised fees were CNY 188 for the 42.195 km marathon and CNY 150 for the 21.0975 km half marathon. Entry channels are the Digital Heartbeat (数字心动) app and the official Xianglushan Marathon (香炉山马拉松) WeChat account; both individual and group applications were announced. Check the official channel for entry conditions and payment confirmation.

The organising authorities announced a shuttle connection from the high-speed railway station to the race start/finish, with boarding details and times to be published separately. Participating hotels may offer runner discounts and late checkout. Medical stations, emergency vehicles and first-response runners are part of the stated safety plan. Allow extra journey time for road restrictions, check your start corral and race-pack arrangements when released, and prepare for the course's hills rather than assuming an easy coastal-style marathon.

Before travelling: confirm the latest course map, access and transport arrangements through the official event channels.
