Lu'an Marathon 2026 - Anhui, China

The 2026 Lu'an Marathon (2026六安马拉松) brings runners to Lu'an in western Anhui for a mass-participation race through the city and its riverfront neighbourhoods. The event is scheduled for Sunday 22 November 2026, with both the full marathon and half marathon starting at 7:30 am China Standard Time from the south gate of Lu'an Sports Centre in Yu'an District. It is an opportunity to discover the city beyond its better-known neighbours in Anhui while joining an organised road-racing field.

Race programme and atmosphere

The organiser has announced a total capacity of 12,000 competitors, allocated as 3,000 marathon places and 9,000 half-marathon places. The races are being organised with an application for a China Athletics Association A-category classification; that classification is not yet confirmed, so do not assume certification. Both distances use the same advertised 7:30 am flag-off. Detailed finish-line instructions, final road-closure arrangements and race-pack collection arrangements should be checked through the organising committee's current notices nearer the date.

Along the route

The organiser's 2026 promotional material highlights Lu'an's Pi River (淠河), Moon Island (月亮岛), Chibi Road Bridge (赤壁路桥) and the traditional-style Gao Street (皋街) precinct as part of the city's running identity. These landmarks explain the local character of the event, but the promotional description is not a substitute for an officially published, turn-by-turn route map. Runners should rely on the final maps, kilometre markers, cut-off rules and water-station details issued by the committee before race day.

Registration and participation

The official registration partner opened pre-registration and payment on 7 September 2026 at 10:00 and closed them on 27 September at 22:00 local time, or when the field filled. Demand was to be handled through a ballot rather than guaranteed first-come entry. The published ballot-result announcement was 2 October at 15:00. Unsuccessful applicants were to receive refunds through the original payment route. As of the current check, the official booking page explicitly says registration is closed; the figures in the race-category cards are historical entry prices, not an offer of available places.

Practical planning

Arrive early for security, bag-drop and corrals if those are confirmed in the athlete guide. The start area is at a large sports complex in Yu'an District, west of central Lu'an, rather than an unspecified city-centre meeting point. November mornings can be cool in inland Anhui: pack suitable warm clothing for before and after the race. Entry rules, proof of previous race results, medical or eligibility requirements and any transfer policy should be verified against the final organiser regulations rather than assumed from other Chinese marathons.
