Event Detail

The inaugural Nanyue Hengshan Trail Race 2026 brings mountain runners to Mount Heng, the Southern Sacred Mountain of China's Five Great Mountains, on Sunday 22 November. Based in Nanyue District of Hengyang, Hunan, the event uses the scenic mountain landscape and the legacy of Ming-dynasty traveller Xu Xiake as its inspiration. Rather than a flat road marathon, expect sustained climbing, technical mountain paths and carefully enforced checkpoints.

Five mountain challenges

The organiser's August 2026 competition regulations confirm five named categories. The marketed distance is a category name; actual course lengths are slightly different:

  • Fangguang Xunyou 60K: 59.4 km, 3,628 m cumulative ascent, 400 places. Starts 6:00 am, with 17 hours to finish by 11:00 pm. Regular entry CNY 899.
  • Fanyin Lingfeng 40K: 41.4 km, 2,711 m ascent, 500 places. Starts 6:00 am, 13-hour cut-off at 7:00 pm. CNY 599.
  • Cangjing Lanxiu 30K: 31.4 km, 1,921 m ascent, 600 places. Starts 6:30 am, 10-hour cut-off at 4:30 pm. CNY 499.
  • Tianzhu Wangyue 20K: 19.2 km, 1,070 m ascent, 600 places. Starts 8:30 am, six-hour cut-off at 2:30 pm. CNY 349.
  • Shouyue Tongqu 10K: 9.1 km, 369 m ascent, 400 places. Starts 8:40 am, closing at noon. Individual entry CNY 198; the organiser also lists a parent-and-child pair option at CNY 396.

These are trail category names, not measured road 10K, half-marathon or marathon races. ARC's current structured distance options do not offer exact entries for the 20K, 40K or 60K trail groups, so use the detailed course lengths above when choosing a race. Organisers propose ITRA credit for the four longer routes, subject to final accreditation rather than guaranteed points.

Race weekend and eligibility

Both the start and finish are at Wanshou Square in Nanyue District. The race centre opens at 4:30 am on Sunday. Race-pack collection is scheduled at the square on Saturday 21 November, 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, accompanied by an outdoor market and an evening elite-runner meeting and technical briefing.

Participants in the 20K, 30K, 40K and 60K must bring a qualifying hospital health report dated within the preceding year, explicitly including blood pressure and ECG findings. Longer routes also require proof of previous suitable race finishes. The entry regulations impose age limits and mandatory safety requirements; runners should read the full Chinese regulations rather than relying only on distance or fee.

A welcome bonus advertised on the official registration page is free Hengshan scenic-area admission for participants from 20 to 24 November, spanning the race day and two days either side. The regulations specify a 20 October 2026 registration deadline, although the booking portal may continue to display a registration action; verify any extension directly with organisers. All times here are local China Standard Time (UTC+8). The map point is indicative of Nanyue District and not a surveyed position for Wanshou Square.

Race Pack Information
