Event Detail

The 2026 Qingpu New City Half Marathon brings distance runners to western Shanghai on Sunday 22 November 2026. Organised under the auspices of the Qingpu District People's Government, the race has a 5,000-runner capacity and is designed to showcase Qingpu New City's mix of canals, green spaces, historic water-town culture and emerging urban districts.

A city-to-waterway half marathon

The only confirmed competitive distance for this edition is the 21.0975 km half marathon. The organisers place the start at the junction of Yinggang East Road (盈港东路) and Jiayue Road (佳悦路), and the finish at the junction of Dianshanhu Avenue (淀山湖大道) and Qingshun Road (青顺路). This is a point-to-point event, so participants should plan their journey around two different locations. The proposed route incorporates the Qingpu Ring Waterway Park and the area's riverfront surroundings. It presents a quieter side of Shanghai than the skyscrapers of the Bund, with stretches highlighting canal scenery, green corridors and new urban neighbourhoods. Final routing remains subject to the pre-race organiser announcement, rather than older-edition maps.

Entry and race preparation

General registration opened at 10:00 China Standard Time on 21 October 2026 and is scheduled to close at 18:00 on 3 November 2026, or earlier when the 5,000 places are filled. The advertised fee is CNY 168 per runner, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. The official entry instructions direct participants to the 'Green Qingpu' (绿色青浦) WeChat public account, with the Digital Xindong (数字心动) app also identified as an entry channel in race listings. There is no verified public, direct web-registration URL, so applicants should locate the current 2026 event through those channels. Entrants must be at least 18 years old, born before 1 January 2008 under the organiser's published eligibility wording, and medically fit and adequately trained for a half marathon. Read the current race regulations before committing to entry, especially if travelling internationally.

Practical information for visitors

Qingpu is in western Shanghai, away from the main city-centre marathon corridor. Confirm the official arrival instructions, transport arrangements and the final course before booking accommodation. Allow for possible road closures around both the start and finish. The organiser's 21 October 2026 race announcement, subsequently reported in Shanghai press, specifies a 07:30 China Standard Time flag-off on Sunday 22 November. Keep an eye on the official final participant instructions for any subsequent schedule or course changes. Race-pack collection location, dates, kit inclusions, refreshments, cut-off time and prizes are not yet verified and should not be inferred from the previous edition.

Sources and verification: The Qingpu District Sports Bureau's 2026 race programme includes this event. The organiser-supplied 21 October race announcement confirms the date, 5,000-person field, start and finish roads, entry period, fee and conditions. The race's 07:30 start time also appears in contemporary Shanghai reporting based on the event announcement. The map pins mark approximate intersections, not surveyed timing mats.

Entry eligibility update

The Qingpu District Government's 21 October 2026 entry regulations require applicants to show two recorded race finishes of at least 10 km from the preceding 24 months. Each result document must show the event date, name, distance and finishing time. Entry fees are non-refundable once registration is confirmed, and transferring race numbers is prohibited. Read the official 2026 rules before applying.

Prizes

- Men's and women's first three finishers: cash placement awards, ranked by gun time. - A separate record-breaking bonus is advertised. - Consult the official Qingpu District Government 2026 prize tables for the precise amounts and eligibility conditions.
