Event Detail
TOPO Lantau Trail 70 returns to Hong Kong on Saturday 20 March 2027, with an established 70 km mountain-trail challenge organised by The Trail Hub. The organiser's programme continues into Sunday 21 March. Solo and four-person relay entrants start at 08:30 Hong Kong local time from Mui Wo, with the registration page naming Silvermine Beach Resort as the gathering point.
An island-wide trail challenge
This is a demanding trail event, not a road ultra. The course follows Lantau Island's rugged trail network, linking mountain ridgelines, country-park landscapes and coastal settlements. The organiser describes it as a 70 km loop traversing the Lantau Trail and returning to Mui Wo. The island is known for steep climbing, exposed viewpoints and varied surfaces, so participants should prepare for long stretches on uneven ground rather than expect a flat or fast road course. The race is also on the Asia Trail Master calendar, reflecting its position in the region's established trail-running scene.
Solo and team relay
Solo runners complete the full approximately 70 km course. Teams of four can instead share the challenge across the advertised relay stages: Mui Wo to Ngong Ping (14 km), Ngong Ping to Tai O (13 km), Tai O to Shui Hau (18 km) and Shui Hau back to Mui Wo (20 km). These stage figures are organiser-published approximate distances; the race is advertised overall as 70 km. Entrants should check the latest route and checkpoint instructions rather than rely on the downloadable 2026 GPX file currently linked on the event website.
Race-day planning and safety
Every runner must carry a mobile phone and safety blanket, and solo entrants must also carry a headlamp. The organiser warns that mandatory-kit checks take place and penalties can apply for missing equipment. The race pack, including bib, a 2027 premium event shirt and sponsor gifts, is due for collection at Cam2 Shop, with the date still to be confirmed. Runners who cannot attend the scheduled collection may collect at the starting area on race morning.
Mui Wo is accessible by ferry and connecting public transport. Allow time to reach the island and consult the official transport guidance before race weekend. Finisher medals and certificates are advertised, plus overall, age-group and team-relay prizes. The event's official entry service lists both individual and four-person team registration. Final cut-offs, checkpoint supplies and race-pack collection times should be verified with the organiser as race day approaches.
