Sandhya Marines Vizag Marathon 2026

Sandhya Marines Vizag Marathon returns to Visakhapatnam on Sunday, 29 November 2026 for its fifth edition. Organised by Vizag Runners Society, the event has grown from a local running-community project into one of the city's largest participation races. The fourth edition drew about 10,000 runners, and AIMS welcomed Vizag Marathon as a full member race in September 2026.

The race is based around MGM Park and Visakhapatnam's Beach Road, using the Bay of Bengal coastline as the backbone of all four courses. The 5K Fun Run is designed for beginners, starting near the Park Hotel junction and turning around at Kali Temple. The 10K continues farther along the coast towards the Kailasagiri Ropeway, including a short climb. Half-marathon runners head through the foothills of Kailasagiri and past the sunrise-point area before turning near the Radisson. The longest category is a distinctive 20-miler, approximately 32.18 km, which follows the seafront towards Film Nagar Club before returning to the finish.

Current organiser-linked race listings show a 05:30 IST flag-off for the 5K, 10K, half marathon and 20-mile categories, while the event venue programme opens from 03:30. The coastal course combines mostly road running with some undulation on the longer routes, particularly around Kailasagiri. Post-race recovery and breakfast are part of the event experience.

Registration for the fifth edition opened on 1 July 2026 and is currently active through the organiser's official registration partner. The announced total prize pool is INR 1.2 million, although a category-by-category prize schedule has not yet been published. Current participant inclusions advertise an event T-shirt, finisher medal, certificate, goodie bag, medical support, refreshment drink, post-race refreshments and timing chip.

ARC currently has exact structured distance options for 5K, 10K and the 21.1K half marathon. The genuine 20-mile category is retained in this event description but is not forced into the inaccurate 30K option. Final bib-collection details, category cut-offs and a registration closing date have not yet been published in the current official material.
