Event Detail

The 46th Yomiuri Inuyama Half Marathon is an established road race in Inuyama, Aichi, organised with the Aichi Athletics Association, Yomiuri Shimbun, Inuyama City and Chukyo TV. The 2027 edition returns on Sunday 28 February with a Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified half marathon and 10K, both starting and finishing at Uchida Disaster Prevention Park.

The course is designed for fast road racing. Organisers describe it as largely flat, with no major steep climbs, while the half marathon runs from the park through Inuyama's urban area and countryside before following the Kiso River and returning towards the castle district. The closing kilometres bring runners back towards views of National Treasure Inuyama Castle. Official course limits are 2 hours 30 minutes for the half marathon and 1 hour 5 minutes for the 10K, with intermediate road-closure checkpoints also enforced.

The 10K starts at 09:45 JST. Half-marathon runners then leave in ability-based waves from 09:53 to 10:05, with general entrants grouped by predicted finish time. Three official water stations are planned on the half-marathon course, at approximately 5 km, 10 km and 16 km. Baggage storage and changing facilities are provided around the event venue, while athlete bibs and timing chips are mailed to entrants in advance, removing the need for race-day registration.

The venue is well suited to runners arriving by public transport: Inuyama Station is about a 10-minute walk away and Inuyama-yuen Station about five minutes. Entry is capped at 7,000 runners across the two distances, and registration closes once capacity is reached even if that happens before the published deadline.
